Frequently Asked Questions

🌾 About Our Bread

How fresh is the bread?

Everything is baked to order and made fresh on the day of collection or delivery. We don't bake in advance and freeze - what you get is as fresh as it gets.

How long does the bread last?

Our sourdough loaves typically stay fresh for 3–4 days when stored correctly. Keep them in a paper bag or wrapped in a clean cloth at room temperature. Avoid plastic bags as they soften the crust.

Can I freeze the bread?

Yes! Our bread freezes beautifully. Slice it before freezing and you can toast straight from frozen. Most loaves will keep well in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Do you use any additives or preservatives?

Never. Our bread is made with just flour, water, salt, and our live sourdough starter. That's it.

Is your sourdough suitable for people with gluten sensitivity?

Our sourdough is long-fermented which many people find easier to digest than commercial bread. However, our products are not gluten-free and are made in a kitchen that handles wheat flour. If you have coeliac disease or a serious gluten allergy, please contact us before ordering.

🗓 Ordering

When do you bake?

We bake throughout the week in small batches to fulfil collection and delivery orders. Please allow 2 days for your order to be prepared.

What are the order cut-off times?

  • Orders placed Friday, Saturday or Sunday → delivered on Tuesday
  • Orders placed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday → delivered on Saturday

Orders placed after the cut-off will be moved to the next available slot.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Yes, as long as you let us know before the cut-off time for your slot. After that, we'll have already started preparing your bake. Please get in touch as soon as possible.

Do you do custom or large orders?

Absolutely, we love a special request. Please give us at least 4 days' notice and contact us to discuss.

🤝 Wholesale & Partnerships

Do you supply to cafés, hotels, or restaurants?

Yes! We work with local businesses who care about quality. If you're interested in a wholesale or partnership arrangement, please get in touch and we'll be happy to discuss.

🚚 Collection & Delivery

Where can I collect from?

Collection is from our bakery at 84 Lower City Rd, Tividale, Oldbury B69 2EA. You'll receive a message when your order is ready to collect.

When is collection available?

Collection is available every day. Because our sourdough is slow-fermented and baked in small batches, we need 2 days to prepare your order — please plan ahead when placing your order.

When do you deliver?

We deliver locally twice a week — on Tuesdays and Saturdays — so your bread arrives as fresh as possible.

How much does delivery cost?

Delivery is free on orders over £15. For orders under £15, a delivery charge of £2.49 applies.

Why We Started Baking...

We couldn't find truly great bread. So we decided to make it ourselves.

We craved the kind of loaf with a crackling, blistered crust and a deep, complex flavour that actually tastes of something. What started as an obsession quickly became The Corner Bakehouse.

Our Approach

The slow way is the right way. No shortcuts, ever.

All our sourdoughs undergo a minimum 48-hour slow rise for rich flavour and easy digestibility.

Just flour, water, sea salt, and our active house starter. Nothing artificial, ever.

Every single loaf is hand-shaped and gets the undivided attention it deserves.

Baked for Our Community

We are an independent, micro-bakery. We bake to order, source stoneground flour from local British mills, and know our customers by name.

For us, artisan baking isn’t a fleeting trend. It’s an ancient craft we are deeply committed to for the long haul.
